From no digital presence at all to Google's first page in 6 months. A B2B engineering firm in Tenerife.
Gumabe Engineering and Consultancy
gumabe.com ↗The client
Gumabe is an engineering and technical consultancy firm in Tenerife specialising in building services projects, safety plans, acoustic studies and licence applications. With a solid professional track record but no digital presence, they needed a website that would give them credibility in the B2B market and make them visible whenever companies and developers searched for these services on Google.
The challenge
The engineering sector in the Canary Islands has something unusual about it: companies do search for these services on Google — but very few competitive websites are capturing that demand. Gumabe could occupy that space, but first they needed a professional presence that conveyed their technical standing.
The solution
I designed a B2B corporate website with a separate page for each technical specialism. The design prioritises desktop — the device 80% of their visitors use — and credibility over volume of information.
A separate page for each technical area: building services, safety, acoustics and licensing. Google indexes each one for its own specific terms.
80% arrive on desktop. A restrained design that puts technical credibility first. The site convinces without pushing.
Specific local rankings for each specialism. The site doesn't rely on the home page alone to appear on Google.
Month-by-month growth
No one-off spikes. Sustained, steady growth from the first month · Data: Google Analytics 4
Why it worked
The analysis carried out before the design confirmed that companies were searching for these services on Google, but few competitive websites were capturing that demand. Entering with a solid structure and correct rankings from the outset was enough to appear in relevant searches within weeks.
A website that talks about "engineering" in the abstract ranks for nothing in particular. Each of Gumabe's technical specialisms has its own optimised page. Google indexes each one for its specific terms — the site doesn't depend on the home page alone.
A 5% click-through rate in technical B2B is well above the 2-3% average. It means that when the site appears on Google, the title and description match exactly what the searcher needs. It doesn't attract generic traffic — it attracts decision-makers.

What I took away
Gumabe taught me the importance of market analysis before design. Once I saw that the engineering sector in the Canary Islands had real organic demand with little web competition, the strategic decision was obvious: go in well structured and let the rankings do their work. The +163% growth over 6 months validates that initial reading. Analysing before designing isn't a luxury — it's what determines whether a website grows or stalls.
